Prince: “Internet Is Over” — NOT!

“The Internet’s completely over,” he said. “I don’t see why I should give my new music to iTunes or anyone else. They won’t pay me an advance for it, and then they get angry when they can’t get it.”

Prince’s new album, 20TEN, will be released as a CD to Mirror readers and the readers of various other print publications in Europe. It might be distributed via Warner Bros. in the U.S. This will be the artist’s 27th release.

Seriously, Prince is either a futurist or a singer who given up the future of the internet. In the past, record labels had signed up singers & rappers everywhere hoping for just one singer or a band to have a super hit album that can hit the charts & earn millions of dollars of CD sales more.

These days of the internet world it’s totally different, new singers makes their own music videos that place it in youtube that turns viral with google advertisements attached giving some subsistence to their talents & get gigs easily after that.

Prince either a very smart marketer or a very sore loser when he realized that people are using his songs on youtube, he freaked out and asked youtube to take it down….but the when people uses music on their videos in fact PROMOTES the music instead!

The past viral music video from the “JK Wedding Entrance Dance” spike the sales of the music used in that video!

My advice to Prince is to give up the traditional medium of advertising, break your record company contracts & release FREE music for budding musicians to mix your music covers & publish on youtube but negotiate with youtube to have a cut in the advertising returns from each videos if that is possible & NOTIFY the content creators that PART of the advertising revenues goes to the original music creator.

GIVE IT FREE! But of course states the rights of use as Creative commons with proper revenue streams via advertising.

The above revenue streams to content creators will also apply to Movies, Podcast, Music and others like television series.

People will get your music FREE legally spread them like WILD FIRE and EARN!

    Following by your logic, microsoft should give windows 7 free of charge as windows 7 will spread like WILD FIRE and EARN. And as for linux which is free of charge, how come it is not spreading like WILD FIRE ? The strange thing is that pcs and laptops that come with freedos, people remove linux/freedos and install pirated copies of windows xp / windows vista / windows 7.

    Comparing with Internet Contents with Operating System is comparing apple with orange.

    The days of Microsoft charging a premium over multiple versions of Operating system will soon be over.

    Linux, Ubuntu, and freedos fails over complexity in user interface faced huge challenge over marketing to ordinary folks who just want to get things done without geting a computer degree to write a spreadsheet.

    I hope you understand that fact, but hmmm recently google seems to be trying to make an OS from Chrome…hmmm

    Maybe I’m wrong but just maybe Andriod or Chrome OS will be the future of free OS that comes with Advertising that works out of the box.

    My prayers is that Andriod or Chrome OS can comes with two variety, one with user friendly interface and another for tech geeks to tinker & modify to our liking. :D

    Geeks love to tinker that’s why they love linux/ubuntu and other hard to use OS but failed in the department of “support” when ordinary folks wants to install a simple software must go through multiple lines of codes & debugging when things goes haywire. LOL

    The tech world & actual users are a hard crowd to satisfy until there is a significant user feedbacks…that people are proud to declare truthfully and unbiasedly.
