According to CNN

A volcano erupted beneath a glacier in south Iceland, forcing the evacuation of hundreds of people the heat from the volcano could melt the glacier and cause floods in the surrounding area.

The possibility of a catastrophic even similar to the movie “The Day After Tomorrow” will happen or not but it’s a horrible thought!

If that happens, flood comes first then major FREEZE! Get ready for the big one!

According to miamiherald
The eruption occurred around 11:30 p.m. Saturday (1930 EDT) beside the Eyjafjallajokull glacier, the fifth largest in Iceland. No damage or injuries were immediately reported.

Authorities initially said the eruption was below the glacier. However, scientists conducting an aerial survey in daylight located the eruption and it did not occur below ice, lessening the chances of flooding from a glacier melt.

The last time the volcano erupted was in the 1820s.
