False Advertising Website

Recently, a friend of mine sent me a seemingly real consumer warning site that showcase a get rich quick scheme in SINGAPORE that WORK?

The link is here http://www.consumerwarningsreport.com/2011fallreport.php

But it’s FALSE, everything in that page is not about warning the people about scams but to advertise for that “work from home” and get rich quick scheme.

Warning Signs

  1. instead of warning it’s overly positive report is my first indication that it is not a real consumer report
  2. I check the home page, there are NO OTHER posts…this is the ONLY post making this “consumer report” fake
  3. Last I checked, there are no way to embed photograph on the comment section unless it’d placed there by web owner
  4. At the very bottom, the disclosure mentioned “This is an advertisement for Online Trade Training
  5. Click on the header, you will not be directed to the main page of consumer report

There are so much false advertising in the text descriptions & fake photograph of women holding a cheque (of some sort) which obviously from google adsense payment and not from the “Online Trade Training”.

DO NOT FALL FOR THESE FALSE NEWS ADVERTISEMENT!

The big clue to me that it was fake was when they asked for money. A legitimate job will not ask for money but will direct you in how to get quality assignments.

Have you ever BUY anything via Online Advertisement?

Ok, now that you had submitted your answer you must be thinking why I am asking this question right?

The reason why I asked is personally I feel I’m suffering from advertisement blindness hence I’m curious if anyone are suffering the same “problem” as me.

All these multibillion dollars online advertisement business is based on web banners & links to websites that I personally never ever click or even if I click into these advertisement banners, I had never really buy anything.

What can be the reason for that?

Let me list out a few

  1. I don’t trust the website they are linked to
  2. The ads don’t sell to my country
  3. I don’t NEED that item they advertised
  4. I never buy things online except for iTunes

There are several objectives in terms of advertisement Online and other media such as television & magazines.

  1. Selling product direct to customers
  2. Spread awareness
  3. Branding

However, recently I found some advertisement embed some LOUD music especially those RPG gaming advertisement banners that are obnoxious & gave me a bad feelings against that game that they are selling.

What this means there are potential serious problems with this model of advertisement Online!

Is there any solutions to this problem to remedy from advertisement blindness? YES

Don’t just advertise! Instead pay people to REVIEW your products online!

It must be honest review and not bias, and if it’s negative reviews…change what they complaint about & request for 2nd review!

Then promote the reviewer(s) online, if it’s a viral video share the video everywhere!

Everyone that uses your product will be your walking, talking advertisement!

Every tweets about your product gave at least 10% of their twitter followers noticing your product!

Every review blogs about your product can be potentially thousands of views per day or month or year!!

That is like way MORE than paying for advertisement per day on the newspaper, magazine or even television!

Online banners or links advertisement are like becoming spam making it terrible to spend so much money on online advertisement!

One question, how many times your friends in twitter or facebook influence your decision in buying something?

I always ask my twitter friends what to buy, what to eat, what movie to see and even where to go for happening stuff!

That real time feedback or crowd sourcing answer will 100% influence my impulse purchasing decisions!

The next money making website or social networking service MUST provide such services and get recommendation from people you trust!

The question is how you pay these people who recommend your products?

That’s WHAT you must think of and create the service to “credit” great “influencer” twitter users or facebook users to recommend products that they personally tried & love!

However, trust is important hence there must be a balance between real referral vesus greedy spammers who refer EVERYTHING to get the most money from advertisers.

That means an influencer don’t SELL PRODUCTS in every tweets but recommend them as & when their friends asked for their recommendation.

If the influencer can provide valid recommendation & state their own reviews why this movie is worth watching in the theater vs buying the DVD or skipping the movie altogether it’s a POWERFUL way to change the minds of their friends.

This kind of influencer can go both ways, positive & negative about any products & services but advertisers should be aware of the challenges of negative reviews.

Only honest, unbiased reviews are way more powerful then biased advertising.

Below is the result of the survey, let’s see if there are more people buy stuff online due to advertisement :D

How IP owners earn $ from piracy?

I just heard that Limewire just got resurrected recently by hackers it is a better version while other piracy methods like bitorrents & direct downloads sites like rapidshares & mediafire are still wildly used by “pirates” to share files.

While RIAA are fighting a rather expensive war to strike fear on poor ordinary people who unfortunately didn’t protect their Internet WIFI network to protect from illegal usage by other people nearby to download pirated contents.

This madness is because old media industry are still holding on the old ways of monetizing their intellectual properties such as music, movies, news, & more.

What can the old media industry do? Let’s examine their options

  1. Sue more poor children & old folks millions of dollars?
  2. Drop the old industry slowly or quickly and think of other ways to earn money other ways

Ok, I’m saying jobs will still be lost but new ones will surface.

New jobs like social network consultants that refer people to your products via social networks will appear, advertising companies will flourish like google & others to produce relevant advertisement for your IP contents.

Artists, movie producers, singers, pod casters and more will start earning money by providing free contents online via all various methods such as youtube, peer to peer networks and more that accompany a advertising attached within the contents.

Or youtube can share revenue with the content creators base on case by case basis as long they can claim ownership of the videos the pirates taken and uploaded to youtube.

For example, a music mp3 downloaded illegally & used in a video in youtube to show a popular game trailers and google placed a advertisement on that video.

The mp3 IP owner can choose to either shut down that video OR SHARE REVENUE between the video uploader.

That means Goggle get a percentage off (fixed % for providing the service), video uploaders revenues for that particular video get sliced to half and shared between the mp3 owners & the uploader.

If the video is a full 90 minutes movie, the uploader get a percentage & the content creator (Hollywood) gets the other half.

This means the more people PIRATE your contents, the MORE you earn!!

The important part of this solution is how to identify which videos are created by who and how many percentage of revenue get distributed.

However, if the uploader themselves who upload the video can set “what content” this video “uses in creation of the video” in the beginning…example crediting the music to this singer and the video to this person, the revenue from the advertisement can be split among them efficiently.

This means content creators can set their PAYPAL accounts in their website and put up their “RAW” videos or music for other people to use in their videos upload to youtube.

Imagine the world where there are no pirates but billions of DISTRIBUTORS of your contents with revenue sharing of advertisements!!!!!

Yes, Hollywood may collapse into small rich content producers instead, with many middlemen lost their jobs but instead many small independent producers will appear and earn more creating more attractive contents by sharing.

New online industries will spring up, education industry that films their lectures & DIY videos can be shared with great revenue sharing methods.

The future will be bright!
