For years, yes years! I had been plagued with spam bots that send me instant messaging messages via MSN and it’s driving me CRAZY!!
I should had seek for the solutions way earlier!
Currently I’m on a mac and running Adium IM that can connect to MSN, Yahoo, Google Talk & more and I always look into the preference to see if there is any privacy setting but fail to find but at last! I found the solutions from a MacRumors Forum!
It’s right there!!
Adium Menu Bar

Click the Privacy Settings instead of Preferences
Then you will find this

Select the “Allow only Contacts on my contact list”
Close it and you can only get messages from people in your contact list! NO MORE SPAM!
For people running MSN on Windows
The solution is simple.
- Open MSN Messenger main window.
- Click Options… on Tools window.
- Switch to Privacy tab.
- Select “All Other Users” in the My Allow List and click “Block>>” button. The “All Other Users” groups will appear in the My Block List list box.
- Click OK to save your settings.
Now, only those who are on your contact list can send message to you and you are free of such spam now.
Works in Trillian also
- Go To Preferences (Right click tray icon, Preferences)
- Scroll down to “Identities & Connections” and select MSN “connection”. Under the MSN option select Privacy
- Hidden amongst your contacts is the “All other users” contact in your “My Allow List”, select it and click on the “Block>>” button
- Hit OK and voila, no more spam.
This is one of the coolest tool ever! I haven’t create this yet but it’s one of the most innovative way to create a 3D world in google earth!!
Excellent Google!
I bet looking behind a window of application will be revolutionized by looking behind that application!! WOOHOO!!
I researched a bit more and found out that he is the famous JOHNNY LEE that created many nice hacks and got head hunted into Microsoft X-Box development WOHOO
Check this video out!

Description:“A (very) quick look back at the Google story over the last 11 years. From Stanford to Mountain View and around the world, featuring many different products, starting with BackRub (Search) up to Google Wave, StreetView and Chrome.”
I believe this is one of the most fascinating company other then Twitter & Facebook, their successes with each milestone are not without failures of many small experimental projects that did not do well but they stick with their never say die attitude and focus on their core business of providing a elegant way to use the internet by providing the users a nice & clean search database that makes a lot of sense.
Their development from initially a small search engine to a major competitor against other search engines, email services, video sharing services, blogging, advertising, mobile OS to future cloud computing with Chrome OS in the future may means one day Google will be everywhere in your everyday life.
I do wish they can stick to their “Do no evil” mantra so that we can continue to support this great company while Google give us the users the benefits for supporting them.
All in all I wish Google best of luck & continue to be successful in the future in cooperation with other successful companies or up and coming mini explosive company such as Twitter.
Last few days one of my client claimed that he did not receive my emails even after repeated tries. Later he msn IM me directly and I send him to both his company email & a personal email and found out that his company email got delayed in receiving all emails which is very very weird.

He is in a American company and I do believe there is something to do with email scanning going on in the network where it will delay the emails but I am clueless to what is the real cause of the delay.
In twitter, I found out it’s not just one incident of delay email receiving as one of my twitter friends joked about being monitored by someone and hence the email got delayed…as it’s manually read by human before sending to the person.
LOL it’s OMG scary if it’s real but realistically I think it’s some kind of bottleneck happening in the email server and maybe the server got overwhelmed by too many people downloading “stuff”…LOL
That points to a moment in the future where we might go back to snail mail with stamp! OMG! Gasp!
Hope it’s a one off affair otherwise productivity will nosedive and the economy might get hit!
Now to send the next finished graphic photograph via email again…haiz..someone please give us cloud servers for high resolution photographs storage free via twitter with multiple uploads
I just received an exciting email just now from Google and found out that my application for a developer account for Google Wave Sandbox had been approved and ready for me to test it out immediately!
It’s so exciting!!
I got 2 sandbox account one main and one test account to test out the functions & develop new widgets for Google Wave.
My main sandbox email account is simontay78@wavesandbox.com
If you have a wavesandbox email account kindly add your email to this google document so that you can connect with other developers that you want to test your widgets & programs with instead of with yourself
For those still in the dark about Google Wave watch the following youtube video to “catch the wave”!
LATEST UPDATES! I had embedded a Google Sandbox Wave in this blog! Check it Out!!
Anyone who wants to sign up for google wave register at here for non-developers & here for developers.
For the longest time ever, I had been searching for a simple solution to increase the sound volume of my Eee-PC. The bug seems to happen after I remove the earphone from the Eee-PC and the volume became so soft that I cannot hear anything when watching youtube.
- Open a terminal (Ctrl-Alt-T) type “alsamixer”
- Try playing with the volume sliders until you get sound.
- You use the up and down arrow keys and the “m” key to mute and unmute channels.
- For more info “man alsamixer”.
This fix is for the pre-installed default Operating system.

This is the “latest” ultra-portable notebook from Asus, presenting to you the Eee-Pc!!! The above photo is my Eee-Pc sitting on top of the macbook to compare the size and you can see it’s as small as a standard hard cover size. At 0.92kg, it’s lighter then most conventional notebook and it’s packing Linux Operating System instead of of the resource hog Window which is excellent!.
I had tested most of the functions such as surfing the internet (firefox), Email (Mozilla Thunderbird), MSN/Yahoo/Google/Skype, and their open source (free) spreadsheet/word processor/presentation software without any problems!
The downside is the following,
- Battery indicator is not accurate (Which might be able to patch in the future…I dunno)
- The voice command activation is not responding accurately
- Lack of a large storage space (Now I got 8GB SSD instead) which I need desperately for downloads.
- Installation of new software (not included as standard softwares) is a pain for those used to window.
- Speaker not loud enough even with ear phones.
- Small keyboard need some time to get use to.
The good features of this Eee-Pc is the following.
- Feather Light weight (0.92Kg)
- Small and portable!
- Fast boot up time!
- Smooth Running of all Pre-installed softwares!
- Great graphical User Interface which is extremely user friendly.
- Similar to Mac, the power plug is uniquely designed to suit international market.
- Built In Webcam & microphone for skype video conferencing.
- The super cheap price tag!!!!
This ultra-portable may not be the most powerful system in the market right now and not the most rich featured ones but the price tag is the killer for me. In the IT fair you can get this Eee-Pc (dunno which model) at about $300++, I got mine 8GB SSD model at SGD$698 at Sim Lim Square 1 week before IT Fair!!! I almost faint when I heard someone else got it half the price! Sucks to be so “kiasu” (scare to lose) and bought it too early.

Enhancement PSP Nightvision – The most popular videos are here
This mod I soldered overnight learning from Metacafe’s kipkay video on the IR Led modification and Acidmods.com’s night vision modification to PSP Camera.
It’s not fantastic now as the IR LEDs are normal 2-3Volts type not the super bright ones used by KipKay.
